📋 Description

• Timely intake, investigation, evaluation, monitoring, and resolution of professional liability claims against insured attorneys • Review, investigate, and evaluate coverage, facts, and applicable law for lawyer's professional liability claims • Assess risks to insureds and the company under policy duties and obligations • Set reserves within authority or obtain management approval based on objective risk evaluation • Resolve claims reasonably and within appropriate time frames • Coordinate and monitor the defense of insureds • Coordinate and monitor coverage evaluations by outside counsel when necessary • Participate in mediation, arbitration, trials, hearings, and related proceedings • Maintain accurate, objective, timely, and current claim files and documentation • Report to reinsurers as required by reinsurance treaties • Serve as a resource for insureds and company members on claims handling, policy interpretation, and legal practice • Contribute to the company's risk management services • Attend meetings, CLEs, and other company-related activities • Provide exceptional customer service and balance the needs of insureds and the company during claim resolution

🎯 Requirements

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school • Minimum three (3) years' experience in the practice of law or as a claims attorney in the lawyer's professional liability field, or other experience satisfactory to the company • Self-motivated, confident, energetic, with good interpersonal, analytical, and negotiation skills • Initiative and accountability, with ability to work independently and make reasoned decisions on complex matters with less than complete information • Excellent oral communication, organization, and time management skills • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and other business technologies, including ability to learn and effectively use emerging technology tools • Strong understanding of liability, causation, and damages • Professional demeanor and adaptability in a fast-paced corporate setting • Flexibility with hours for travel outside the office and availability during business hours in geographically diverse jurisdictions • Willingness to travel occasionally • Ability to provide coverage during regular business hours across multiple jurisdictions
