Arc delivers brand‑specific, real‑time voice agents that integrate with existing POS systems and base stations (no replacement hardware required), enabling AI‑powered upsells, improved order accuracy, faster lines, and operational insights via dashboards and A/B testing. The product targets quick‑service restaurant operators and emphasizes measured lift in average order value, accuracy, and labor savings.

📋 Description

• Design and evolve microcontroller firmware for status indication, physical audio bypass relays, and vehicle detection signal routing • Build and harden the edge compute host application and full-duplex, multi-process audio pipeline connecting drive-thru hardware to the cloud backend • Own the serial protocol and health-monitoring layer between microcontroller and host • Implement failure detection, exponential-backoff recovery, and state persistence across restarts • Debug issues spanning audio drivers, USB serial, relays, and third-party POS integrations using logs and telemetry • Improve deployment, monitoring, remote management, telemetry, remote access, and safe over-the-air updates for production device fleets • Partner with product and operations to translate drive-thru and legacy-hardware constraints into robust technical solutions

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including meaningful time in embedded systems, firmware, or hardware-adjacent software • Comfort in C++ for resource-constrained microcontrollers • Strong general-purpose backend skills in Python or other modern languages • Experience designing for reliability in real-time or latency-sensitive systems, especially unattended field systems • Practical experience with serial/USB protocols, audio I/O, or similar low-level hardware interfaces • Ability to drive loosely defined hardware/software problems to well-architected solutions • Strong judgment about scaling versus moving quickly • Communication skills to explain technical reasoning • Bonus: experience with audio processing/DSP, echo cancellation, remote fleet management, or point-of-sale/legacy hardware integrations
