📋 Description

• Design and evolve the core architecture of conversational AI and voice-ordering systems • Balance latency, reliability, and correctness in live, in-lane drive-thru environments • Lead complex, cross-cutting initiatives spanning POS and hardware integrations, AI-agent evaluation, and observability • Set backend technical direction and standards • Mentor and onboard new hires • Partner with product and operations to translate local business operators’ needs into robust technical solutions • Improve testing, evaluation, and monitoring of AI-agent quality • Debug and resolve production issues spanning real-time audio, third-party integrations, and distributed services

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a track record of owning significant systems end-to-end • Deep experience with backend systems in Python, or similarly strong general backend fundamentals with a willingness to go deep in Python • Experience designing for reliability and correctness in real-time or latency-sensitive systems • Ability to operate with ambiguity and drive loosely defined problems to well-architected solutions • Strong judgment about when to build for scale versus when to move fast • Communication skills to explain reasoning and bring others along • Bonus: experience with conversational AI/LLM-based systems, real-time audio/telephony platforms, or third-party/legacy POS or specialized hardware integrations
