📋 Description

• Lead federal engagement and funding strategy with senior leadership, including efforts to secure ongoing congressional funding • Assess federal priorities and budget developments and set priorities aligned with BioMADE’s mission, business opportunities, and resources • Build trusted relationships with congressional staff and federal officials, especially congressional defense committees and the national security community • Analyze proposed legislation and regulations affecting BioMADE • Develop and draft policy or legislative proposals • Represent BioMADE independently and coordinate senior leadership engagement • Develop Washington-based relationships and federal business opportunities with Defense & Industrial Base Services and Pilot Plant Network leaders • Assess Government customer needs and strategic fit and identify agency headquarters funding paths • Write and coordinate materials explaining BioMADE’s capabilities and advocating for priorities, funding requests, and proposed actions • Lead responses to congressional and agency inquiries • Coordinate with technical, business, and communications colleagues • Manage outside government affairs firms and support resources • Report to the Chief Executive Officer

🎯 Requirements

• 10 years in government-facing business development, strategy, government affairs, or related public service • Record of personally developing and executing approaches that secure funding, advance business opportunities, or achieve institutional objectives through sustained advocacy and targeted follow-through • Practical understanding of federal decision-making and funding processes • Ability to navigate Washington independently and engage credibly with government counterparts • Defense or national security experience is particularly relevant • Sound business judgment and ability to assess Government needs and develop mission-aligned opportunities with technical and business colleagues • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under short, externally imposed deadlines • Strong writing and analytical skills • Experience developing substantive materials for decision-makers • Initiative, discretion, and ability to collaborate effectively across the organization • Experience with bioindustrial manufacturing is helpful but not required • Ability to learn BioMADE’s work and explain its relevance to government priorities • U.S. citizenship required for eligibility for a U.S. government security clearance • Ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance
