• Review and evaluate delinquent, high-risk, or written-off accounts for collections opportunities • Provide collections-related sales, service, payment strategy, and product advice to BMO customers or prospects • Deliver exceptional customer service and build long-term, profitable client relationships • Address complex and escalated customer requests and transactions • Contact customers to obtain application information and communicate payment status and results • Execute loss mitigation processes for non-performing and high-risk accounts • Handle incoming calls professionally and efficiently • Probe customer needs and advise on payment and collections strategies • Send client communications, process transactions, and coordinate with internal stakeholders • Integrate marketing promotions and programs into customer conversations • Provide guidance to assigned business/group on solution implementation • Support strategic initiatives with internal and external stakeholders • Develop action plans and solutions to maximize recovery and safeguard the Bank’s interests • Serve as a key support contact, resource, and coach for Consumer Collections personnel • Negotiate effectively while adhering to guidelines, requirements, and regulations • Analyze accounts and data to assess collection probability and provide recommendations • Prepare regular and ad-hoc reports and dashboards • Develop and execute short-term tactics and plans to drive behaviours, activities, and results • Manage customer-call transactions or refer matters to appropriate internal groups • Escalate complex or unresolved customer situations to managers • Complete documentation to accurately process customer requests • Integrate information from multiple sources to improve processes, analysis, and reporting • Lead or participate in designing, implementing, and managing core business/group processes • Support development and promotion of business/group programs • Identify business needs and design/develop tools and training programs, including possible training delivery • Participate in collections lifecycle execution and loss mitigation solutions, including loan modifications and liquidation alternatives • Follow documented policies and procedures • Identify referrals to other business groups • Support continuous improvement initiatives • Work mostly independently and exercise judgment within established rules • Apply the Risk Management Framework when making sound, risk-informed decisions
• Typically between 3 - 5 years of relevant experience • Post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience • Knowledge of Credit Qualifications and associated credit knowledge and skills according to the established qualification standards • Knowledge of federal, state/provincial and local laws pertaining to Consumer Collections and functional area - Good • Knowledge of BMO products and services - Good • Knowledge of competitive marketplace and trends in product offerings • Specialized knowledge from education and/or business experience • Verbal & written communication skills - In-depth • Collaboration & team skills - In-depth • Analytical and problem solving skills - In-depth • Influence skills - In-depth • Ability to maintain confidentiality of customer and Bank information • Knowledge of collections strategies, practices, trends, industry best practices, and regulatory environment • Ability to apply BMO's Risk Management Framework and comply with applicable policies, laws, and regulations
