📋 Description

• Design and build market-leading fiber optic communication switching networks • Provide technical leadership for complex fiber optic transceiver modules and systems, primarily 10 Gbit/s–100 Gbit/s • Develop detailed feature and functional specifications and system architecture • Lead design and qualification activities for optical transceiver modules and systems • Collaborate with R&D hardware and software engineering teams on datacenter and campus-wide network switch connectivity • Perform optical and electrical characterization and qualification of high-speed pluggable optical transceivers and copper cables • Support new product introduction processes • Develop, automate, and document test procedures for qualifying new pluggable optical transceivers or cables • Collaborate with signal integrity and electrical hardware teams to debug, test, and bring up Ethernet switching hardware • Provide engineering expertise and onsite support for interoperability demonstrations • Support internal product development, qualification, and testing efforts • Support external optics certification and interoperability with third-party networking equipment • Help formulate vendor selection, management, and procurement strategy

🎯 Requirements

• 10+ years’ experience in fiber optic communication and hardware product development • Strong skills in developing fiber optic modules such as SFP+/XFP/CFP/QSFP • Experience with optical and electrical characterization and qualification of high-speed pluggable optical transceivers and copper cables • Familiarity with high-speed pluggable transceiver form-factors and MSAs • Detailed experience with high-speed electrical and optical test equipment • Experience and familiarity with vendor base for optical products desired • Highly self-motivated with a strong multidisciplinary background • Demonstrated strong problem-solving and analytical skills • Ability to work independently or in a team • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Ability to understand complicated systems quickly • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering required; Master's degree preferred • Qualified applicants must meet applicable work requirements in Canada
