📋 Description

• Design, implement, and deliver complex, cross-cutting features and systems in Ruby on Rails, Postgres, GraphQL, REST, and occasionally React and React Native • Lead efforts addressing technical debt and system reliability, identifying refactoring and optimization opportunities • Influence and evolve architecture and system design across services and applications • Uphold standards for code quality, testing coverage, and documentation • Mentor engineers and provide feedback • Improve internal tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring systems • Facilitate technical discussions and decision-making around trade-offs • Escalate and help resolve complex technical challenges • Partner with product managers, designers, and engineers during discovery to shape feature direction • Contribute to the evolution of engineering culture, processes, and backend engineering practices

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software development experience • Advanced proficiency in Ruby on Rails and/or other MVC frameworks • Advanced proficiency with relational databases and ability to design and optimize scalable data models and APIs • Production familiarity with Redis, PostgreSQL, and Sidekiq • Experience contributing across front-end, back-end, and data layers • Experience leveraging artificial intelligence to build, enhance, or optimize product tools and features • Ability to handle complex tasks and ambiguous problems independently • Understanding of business trade-offs and ability to communicate risks and benefits of technical approaches • Strong collaboration, mentorship, and proactive feedback skills • Must live and work permanently in the United States • Nice-to-have technologies include AWS, ElasticSearch, MongoDB, React, React Native, Terraform, GraphQL, and large language model integrations
