📋 Description

• Own the architecture for Docker Hardened Images as a platform • Define and drive multi-quarter technical roadmaps for container hardening • Translate customer, operational, and upstream signals into catalogue-wide architectural changes • Build alignment across product, security, infrastructure, customer-facing teams, and executives • Represent Docker in escalations, enterprise customer engagements, and upstream OSS communities • Set image, Helm chart, hardening, and supply chain tooling standards at scale • Drive complex packaging decisions across upstream dynamics, security tradeoffs, multi-architecture constraints, and customer impact • Shape integration test infrastructure and developer tooling strategy • Mentor staff and senior engineers through reviews, design, and architectural decisions • Participate in paid on-call rotation, respond to incidents, debug production issues, and improve reliability • Deliver architectural decisions, feedback loops, platform or standards evolution, and durable cross-functional alignment during the first year

🎯 Requirements

• 10+ years of backend engineering experience, including extensive work on production-grade distributed systems at scale • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience • Ability to set multi-quarter technical roadmaps and align engineering, product, and executive stakeholders • Deep expertise in the container and Kubernetes ecosystem, including cert-manager, kyverno, grafana, and istio • Mastery of container supply chain security concepts: provenance, attestation, SBOM, signing, and SLSA • Strong software engineering fundamentals: code review, testing, source control, CI/CD, and Go • Track record of technical influence across multiple teams or organizations • Experience navigating upstream OSS communities and shaping upstream security direction • Ability to work across remote, distributed teams and communicate complex technical strategy to technical and non-technical audiences • Visa sponsorship considered case-by-case based on business needs • Bonus: package maintenance experience at a Linux distribution, Homebrew, or comparable ecosystem • Bonus: hands-on supply chain tooling experience with Sigstore, SBOM, or SLSA at organizational scale • Bonus: regulated-environment experience with FedRAMP, FIPS, or PCI • Bonus: prior Principal or Distinguished IC experience • Bonus: direct enterprise customer engagement on container security architecture
