• Design protection schemes for T&D substations, data centers, industrial, and BESS applications, including one-lines, three-lines, AC/DC schematics, and relay settings • Lead local or remote design teams developing panel and interconnect wiring, panel layouts, and elevations • Evaluate IED interoperability, control features, and communication/protocol aspects to deliver integrated solutions involving SCADA, cybersecurity, and telecom • Apply IEC 61850 process and system bus architecture in substations • Coordinate with SCADA, substation physical, and control design engineers on system integration • Deliver projects within specifications, cost, and schedule objectives • Interface with engineering, design, project management, sourcing, and support organizations • Review load flow, fault, relay coordination, and transient studies • Train end-users on integrated protection and control systems • Lead or support factory acceptance testing and site testing/commissioning • Develop outage, cut-over, and testing procedures • Define processes, perform root cause analyses and corrective actions, and validate process control • Support ISO9002 quality initiatives • Develop proposals, technical specifications, design-hour and material estimates, vendor quotation support, clarifications, exceptions, and technical responses • Potentially serve as project engineer for small- to medium-sized, secondary-engineering-focused projects • Continuously update technical knowledge in support of grid transition needs
• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar degree from an accredited university • Minimum 7 years’ experience in engineering • Minimum 5 years’ experience in protection and controls engineering for substations or power generation • Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% of the time, including internationally • Ability to comply with company travel and tax policies • Legally authorized to work in the United States • P.E. License or EIT with willingness to pursue and acquire P.E. certification, or P.Eng or willingness to acquire certification • Extensive experience in protective relaying coordination and practices • Understanding of circuit breakers, fuses, circuit switchers, transformers, shunt reactors, capacitor banks, harmonic filters, HVDC, and FACTS systems • Fluent in English • Strong influencing and relationship-building skills • Demonstrated presentation skills and ability to communicate complex messages succinctly • Experience in technical problem solving • Mastery of secondary engineering discipline, including processes, tools, and technical aspects • Demonstrated ownership, accountability, judgment, decision-making, and passion for the functional role
