• Review, analyze, and evaluate simple to complex secured and unsecured consumer loan applications • Approve, modify, counter, or deny consumer loan applications according to credit union policies and lending authority • Ensure transactions are accurate, complete, and compliant • Review required documentation for accuracy and truthfulness • Apply fraud detection and prevention techniques • Perform paystub and basic tax return analysis to determine ability to repay • Maintain knowledge of state and federal credit union compliance laws, including bank secrecy, anti-money laundering, Fair Lending, and Truth in Lending laws • Review credit reports and analyze lending ratios, capacity, credit utilization, and loan-to-value • Receive and initiate phone inquiries and communicate loan decisions to originators and external business partners • Address and resolve complaints or issues from members, internal staff, and business partners • Gather information and perform analysis for reports • Assist with training originators on lending policies, processes, and procedures • Administer lending promotional campaigns • Recommend and assist with updating consumer lending products, policies, procedures, and materials • Train personnel on lending policies and procedures • Perform upgrade validations for lending systems • Perform other lending duties as assigned • Maintain and strengthen relationships with members, internal and external originators
• Successful completion of High School curriculum is required • 4-7 years in consumer lending in a judgmental lending environment where LOS is used as a guide to make decisions, or 5+ years in loan processing • Strong analytical and organizational skills and attention to detail • Ability to calculate figures and amounts • Ability to use logical reasoning to interpret facts and make objective observations, examinations, evaluations, and recommendations • Knowledge of key trends in the financial services industry impacting loan quality and underwriting • Solid interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills • Knowledge of credit analysis and reporting • High degree of integrity and judgment to make appropriate and fair lending decisions • Comprehensive understanding of branch and indirect credit union lending policies • Ability to sell and promote product lines and support lending decisions • Understanding of automated loan origination systems • Proficiency with standard Microsoft programs and other computer operations • Understanding of assigned territory lending market conditions and collateral values • Ability to work in a fast-paced, flexible, production-oriented department • Analytical skills for reviewing and understanding complex paystub and tax return documents • Ability to work required hours, including possible weekend shifts and hours after 6:00 p.m. • Flexibility with scheduling, including evenings, weekends, and holidays • Some travel may be required
