📋 Description

• Lead a team of data engineers while remaining deeply hands-on • Set the architectural vision for the Databricks lakehouse using Spark, Delta Lake, and Unity Catalog • Drive technical discussions and design decisions • Coach engineers through regular 1:1s and career development • Own the technical roadmap and evolution of the data platform • Coordinate with architects, product managers, and business stakeholders • Balance new capabilities against technical debt • Establish automated testing, data quality SLAs, CI/CD, monitoring, and observability • Build a strong incident management culture with blameless root cause analysis and preventative follow-through • Lead responsible adoption of AI-assisted development, testing, and operations • Scale effective AI practices and measurably accelerate delivery

🎯 Requirements

• Proven, deep technical background in data engineering • Strong architecture skills, including designing and defending large-scale lakehouse and distributed data system designs • Experience in a people management role • Hands-on experience with Databricks, Spark, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Python, SQL, and AWS or Azure • Significant experience embedding automated pipeline testing, validation frameworks, CI/CD, and monitoring in a demanding SaaS production environment • Strong operational excellence and incident management track record • Experience with on-call ownership, SLAs, root cause analysis, and measurable reliability improvements • Demonstrated adoption of AI tools to accelerate engineering practice • Track record of growing the careers and capabilities of an engineering team • Knowledge of French required for permanent positions in Quebec • Fluency in English required
