• Inspect equipment to ensure proper operation and identify defects and failures. • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective components or systems to restore the equipment to its original manufacturing specifications. • Verify the proper operation of repaired equipment. • Commission new equipment. • Complete time records, technical reports, failure reports, and parts lists. • Stay current on industry, customer, and product developments, as well as technical best practices. • Comply with safety policies and government, customer, and industry requirements. • Identify and report unsafe work practices, incidents, and near misses; conduct a “Take 5” risk assessment. • Maintain hand tools and equipment to ensure safe operation. • Maintain an orderly workplace and participate in environmental, health, and safety training. • Wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE). • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, maintain, adjust, and test surface mining equipment. • Commission new equipment and provide training at customer sites. • Complete accurate time records, technical reports, failure reports, and parts lists. • Stay current with industry, customer, and product developments, and technical best practices. • Perform other duties assigned by the Manager.
• Diploma or certificate in a relevant mechanical or electrical field, or equivalent experience as a Heavy-Duty Equipment Mechanic. • Five (5) years of related experience with surface mining equipment. • Ability to work in both French and English. • Previous experience with Sandvik equipment or products is an asset. • Proficiency in reading hydraulic and electrical schematics. • Demonstrated ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and mechanical issues on mining equipment. • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Computer literacy and experience with Microsoft software, including MS Office. • Valid driver’s license required. • Willingness to travel to mine sites and across Canada as required. • Ability and willingness to work varied shifts as required. • Diploma or certificate in a mechanical or electrical field, or equivalent experience as a Heavy-Duty Equipment Mechanic. • Five (5) years of related experience with surface mining equipment. • Ability to work in both French and English. • Proficiency in reading hydraulic and electrical schematics. • Demonstrated ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and mechanical issues. • Computer literacy (MS Office). • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to local mine sites and across Canada as required. • Ability and willingness to work varied shifts.
