📋 Description

• Perform collecting, reconciliation, credit balance resolution, research, correspondence, and independent problem solving • Reconcile complex, multi-payment accounts • Submit appeal letters on underpaid claims as directed • Interpret payer contracts to determine payment and PCON adjustment accuracy • Review EOBs for denials and post corrected adjustments to balance accounts • Identify process improvement needs and create/enhance PFS department processes • Promote positive teamwork within and among departments • Work with hospital departments on coding and billing procedures • Provide customer service to patients, government agencies, commercial insurers, hospital departments, physicians' offices, and attorneys' offices • Reconcile accounts daily to determine underpayment, overpayment, or contractual adjustment corrections • Maintain current knowledge of regulatory billing requirements • Attend in-services and continuing education • Interpret data processing reports for daily departmental productivity • Train staff members on reconciliation techniques and other position-related tasks

🎯 Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED - Required • 18 months patient accounts experience - Required • 18 months billing, collection or Medicare/Commercial billings - Required • Other post-high-school education, including accounting courses or medical business office certificate program - Preferred • 5 years billing or collections - Preferred • Knowledge of applicable insurance contracts and regulations • Knowledge of regulatory billing requirements for specified payors • Ability to interpret data processing reports • Ability to follow departmental, hospital, regulatory, and HIPAA policies and procedures • Work hours M-F 7a-3:30p
