📋 Description

• Support the CFO in overseeing financial operations across three independently incorporated businesses • Own the month-end close process for each entity • Prepare monthly financial statements and analyze results and variances • Assist with quarterly financial reviews and leadership reporting materials • Contribute to annual budgeting and forecasting for each business • Monitor financial performance and report on each entity’s financial condition • Strengthen internal controls and identify process improvements • Ensure compliance with tax and regulatory requirements, including GST, PST, and corporate filings • Manage intercompany transactions and documentation • Oversee or support journal entries, reconciliations, and cash management • Support tax planning and financial structuring initiatives • Maintain confidentiality of financial information and strategic plans • Use and learn organizational technology systems • Perform other duties supporting the CFO

🎯 Requirements

• CPA designation (completed or near completion) strongly preferred • 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, or controllership functions • Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting and financial statement preparation • Experience leading or heavily owning month-end close processes • Experience working with multiple entities or complex corporate structures considered an asset • Strong knowledge of internal controls and compliance requirements • Proficiency in QuickBooks • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis • Ability to operate independently and prioritize across multiple businesses • High level of integrity and discretion • Clear interest in growing into a Controller role • Proven experience working within the insurance industry required
