JHU EEHPC is the Energy Efficient High Performance Computing Lab at Johns Hopkins University, led by Tinoosh Mohsenin. The lab focuses on designing medical, health, and wearable devices and developing tiny, energy-efficient wearable and mobile computing systems through cross-layer approaches spanning algorithms, architecture, hardware, and system integration. It applies high-performance computing and artificial intelligence methods to smart health monitoring, robotics, autonomous navigation, and related domains, aiming to revolutionize healthcare, transportation, and public utilities.

📋 Description

• Lead the instructional design team, including instructional designers and instructional technologists, to produce high-quality online courses and instructional assets • Hire and supervise instructional designers, instructional technologists, and part-time instructional design team members • Provide instructional design leadership, project plans, task communication, status reports, and risk management • Collaborate with faculty, subject matter experts, the Associate Dean for Teaching and Learning, and Academic Team members • Design production procedures for timely, efficient, consistent, and quality course development • Provide educational programs to enhance faculty pedagogical expertise • Evaluate online instructional approaches and develop continuous quality improvement plans • Lead instructional design project management through course development cycles • Produce reports on online course enrollments, evaluations, schedules, development, and quality • Ensure online courses, degree programs, and distance learning comply with university, state, and federal regulations and policies • Serve as lead instructional design liaison for academic programs and coordinate design priorities • Lead course quality assurance using Quality Matters standards • Lead course design and development, including maintaining course templates and standards • Develop team operational procedures and workflows • Support planning, assessment, evaluation, accessibility, learning analytics, faculty development, and digital learning initiatives • Assist faculty with selecting, using, designing, and evaluating web-based instructional strategies and technologies • Research current and emerging technologies and delivery modalities • Assist with grants supporting online course or module development

🎯 Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Education, or related field • Five years related experience • Supervisory experience and management skills • Experience designing and developing fully online and hybrid online academic courses • Experience integrating technology into online instruction • Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, subject to the JHU equivalency formula • Experience with academic course design, project management, and Storyline or other course authoring tools strongly preferred • Record of publications and/or presentations related to instructional design, education, learning technology or related fields preferred • Familiarity with learning management systems, preferably Blackboard • Three or more years managing a team of instructional designers through multiple concurrent course development projects preferred • Membership/direct affiliation with professional associations and organizations supporting future thinking around distance education • Advanced proficiency in ADA Compliance, Adult Learning Principles, Educational Technologies, Instructional Strategies, Learning Management Systems, Learning Theory, Process Improvement, and Project Management • Availability Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Eastern Time • Successful candidates subject to a pre-employment background check • Johns Hopkins University requires faculty, staff, and students to receive the seasonal flu vaccine, subject to stated exceptions
