📋 Description

• Use quantitative reasoning, problem solving, operations research methods, and programming skills to assist the market operations team with hedging strategies and optimizing battery energy storage system dispatch across the fleet • Develop algorithmic hedging and energy trading strategies • Strategize day-to-day power market operations • Troubleshoot market operations in real time • Build and edit mathematical models representing battery energy storage system operation • Build reports summarizing trading strategy performance • Lead analytical and coding projects from brainstorm through final work product with limited oversight • Build and maintain algorithmic hedging strategies for physical BESS operations and portfolio value maximization • Build automated power market bidding/trading strategies using Python and SQL • Champion feature development to drive PNL improvements • Support day-to-day management of company assets through bid submission, code debugging, and on-call responsibilities • Improve price forecasts, bidding, and hedging models • Develop and assess models to improve PNL • Analyze and manipulate datasets in MS SQL Server • Collaborate with the development team on analytics infrastructure • Identify gaps in analytical reports and dashboard tools • Build Power BI dashboards to inform market decisions

🎯 Requirements

• 3+ years of energy industry or analytical experience • IPP or utility experience with a background in hedging physical operations preferred • Strong fundamental understanding of daily energy market operations in various jurisdictions • Bachelor's degree in engineering, math, economics, computer science, chemistry, physics, finance, business, or related field • Master's degree preferred • Interest in clean energy and power markets • Experience programming in Python or other mathematical programming languages • Exposure to mathematical optimization a plus • Experience working with large data sets a plus • Very motivated self-starter • Strong organizational and time-management skills • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer • Legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer
