📋 Description

• Lead and guide a diverse team of designers and drafters creating structural designs, calculations, and technical drawings for substation projects • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and project requirements • Lead design reviews and mentor junior designers • Collaborate with other disciplines and manage project timelines • Allocate resources for direct reports and coordinate with the engineering manager • Identify and resolve project issues through communication with the internal project team and client • Interact directly with clients to review and resolve technical project issues without supervision • Collaborate with engineers and designers across disciplines to resolve potential design issues • Ensure project deliverables meet technical quality, accuracy, and Company and Client standards • QA/QC site steel plans, sections, details, and corresponding BOMs • QA/QC foundation plans, sections, details, and corresponding BOMs • Identify and resolve design interferences • Coordinate vendor equipment mounting templates with Leidos steel design so electrical assets can mount easily • Represent engineering design details for greenfield substations • Perform design due diligence for site expansion and brownfield work • Support site-civil and physical design groups with plans, sections, and details for substation projects • Stay updated on relevant technologies to ensure structural integrity and successful project delivery

🎯 Requirements

• AA/2-year degree in Engineering Technology - CAD or related scientific/technical discipline • Experience may be considered in lieu of degree • 1–4 years of relevant experience in steel design • Additional direct relevant technical experience may be substituted for education • Demonstrated understanding of design concepts associated with high voltage electrical substations • Proficient in Autodesk AutoCAD • Proficient in Bentley MicroStation • 3D modeling using Autodesk Inventor preferred • Must be located in the United States • Sponsorship and other immigration-related monetary benefits are not available
