📋 Description

• Review and analyze accounts and credit balance reports from insurance carriers and patients • Review explanations of benefits (EOBs) • Contact insurance carriers and communicate with them to gather additional information • Perform precise follow-up with insurance companies by phone, email and insurance websites at an acceptable daily volume • Resolve patient and insurance credit balance refunds • Research and resolve unapplied cash activity accounts • Document requests and concerns received by mail, email, telephone, written correspondence or in person on patient accounts • Respond to insurance company and patient refund requests within 30 days of receipt in the credit balance work list • Identify the originating cause of refund needs and compile recurring-issue reports for management • Correct errors in the calculation and posting of insurance contractual adjustments • Maintain confidentiality of protected health information (PHI) • Perform job functions consistently with MGRI mission, values, policies and procedures

🎯 Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent (GED) required • Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration or a related field preferred • Experience analyzing explanations of benefits (EOBs) from various insurance companies/payers • One year of experience in insurance billing or insurance follow-up for Medicare, Medicaid and commercial payers required • Medical terminology knowledge preferred • Knowledge of CPT / ICD-10 coding • Fundamental knowledge of how insurance companies pay according to contracts • Ability to read and interpret insurance explanations of benefits (EOBs) • Ability to perform precise insurance-company follow-up via phone, email and insurance websites at an acceptable daily volume • Ability to maintain confidentiality of protected health information (PHI) • Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship • Availability Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week, 8am-5pm in the employee’s time zone
