📋 Description

• Own end-to-end COGS and gross margin analysis for Motive’s hardware and software product lines, including vehicle gateways, dashcams, and software products • Model cost-saving opportunities and build scenario analyses • Deliver profitability recommendations to the CPO, CTO, and finance leadership • Structure ambiguous, high-stakes business questions and develop clear, defensible analyses • Present analytical points of view in executive conversations • Partner with data engineering, finance, and product teams to understand cost drivers and influence roadmap and investment decisions • Establish ground truth in complex data environments and build reliable datasets • Create durable analytical frameworks for the broader team • Contribute to documentation, version control practices, and analytical best practices • Own the domain, manage priorities, and advance work with minimal supervision

🎯 Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in analytics, strategic finance, or a closely related field • Demonstrated depth in financial and operational modeling • Expert-level SQL; ability to write complex queries independently and fluently • Deep understanding of unit economics, including gross margin, contribution margin, COGS structures, cost drivers, and scenario modeling • Ability to independently frame and decompose ambiguous business problems • Strong executive communication skills and experience presenting analytical findings and a clear point of view to VP or C-suite stakeholders • High autonomy and self-sufficiency in fast-moving environments with incomplete context and shifting priorities • Experience working in messy data environments, establishing definitions, validating data quality, and building from the ground up • Experience with hardware and software combination products such as IoT, fleet technology, or consumer electronics • Python for analysis and automation • Hands-on experience with a modern analytics stack such as dbt, Airflow, or equivalent • Background in strategic finance, FP&A, or management consulting with a strong technical layer
