📋 Description

• Write code and tests, build prototypes, tackle problems, and profile and analyze performance bottlenecks • Learn about problems and solutions across a large, complex, evolving codebase • Use C++, JavaScript, Kotlin, Rust, and Python to fix performance issues, emphasizing C++ and JavaScript • Educate engineers on writing performant code through code reviews, talks, tooling, and documentation • Independently define and drive actionable next steps from high-level objectives • Work with engineering teams across the organization to assist with and lead performance efforts • Shape future performance benchmarks and prioritize necessary improvements • Develop strategies for the future of the Performance team and organization • Collaborate with committed team members to bring the Open Web to millions of people

🎯 Requirements

• BS/MS in CS, CE and 7+ years relevant experience • A mastered understanding of programming in C++ • An understanding of programming in JavaScript • Proven experience developing performance critical software • Experimental and measured approach to solving problems, including measurement and experiments to diagnose issues or prove solutions • Proven skill in debugging and analyzing performance bottlenecks and using profiling tools, including VTune, Xperf, and other sampling-based profilers • Experience with multithreading and concurrency, disk I/O, and GPU • Proven track record of setting team goals and driving them to completion • Experience motivating and aligning cross-functional teams to deliver shared goals • Interest and ability to work in a distributed team, requiring asynchronous written and verbal communication skills • Bonus: Familiarity with Web Standards or patterns • Bonus: Familiarity with Android or Windows OS application programming • Bonus: Solid understanding of statistics • Bonus: Prior experience working on a modern web browser
