• Examine and analyze human behavior and the psychological, social, and environmental factors influencing decision-making • Conduct applied behavioral science research related to insurance • Work on research involving catastrophe and climate risk, availability and affordability, policyholder protection gaps and purchase decisions, artificial intelligence, data privacy and cyber risk, health, and long-term care • Design and conduct quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-methods research • Collaborate closely with CIPR researchers and NAIC staff on ongoing projects • Pursue related independent research interests • Publish work in peer-reviewed journals • Present research at academic conferences • Develop collaborations with external scholars • Contribute to interdisciplinary discussions on communication, risk, consumer behavior, and public policy
• Ph.D. from an accredited institution in a related field such as behavioral science, decision science, economics, communication, or risk management and insurance • Ph.D. must have been obtained within the past two years • Ph.D. expected completion by fall 2026 is acceptable • Experience designing and conducting research using quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods approaches • Research experience and/or interests related to one or more specified insurance issues • Experience or knowledge of surveys, experiments, focus groups, interviews, content analysis, behavioral data analysis, or field research • Clear and concise presentation of research results in written and oral form • Strong data analysis skills • Cover letter, CV, one or two representative publications or working papers, and at least one letter of recommendation • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. • Must be able to work without employer visa sponsorship
