📋 Description

• Maintain and optimize PostgreSQL databases hosted in AWS • Develop, maintain, and version-control DDL scripts for schema creation, modification, and migration • Migrate existing data and schemas from Oracle to PostgreSQL while ensuring data integrity and performance • Maintain technical documentation for database design, configuration, schema changes, and operational procedures • Monitor and tune database performance for reliability, scalability, and efficiency • Design and implement backup and disaster recovery processes • Manage database backups, restores, and updates • Synchronize database objects and resolve discrepancies involving tables, indexes, packages, views, constraints, LOBs, grants, and invalid objects • Manage database security, access controls, permissions, grants, roles, and privileges • Reconcile and optimize indexes and generate missing index deployment scripts • Collaborate with engineering and DevOps teams on database security, scalability, and compliance • Manage Oracle-to-PostgreSQL schema conversion, object validation, and post-migration reconciliation • Configure, monitor, troubleshoot, and tune AWS DMS migrations, including CDC, LOB handling, endpoint verification, and task validation • Conduct migration validation, including row counts, object counts, CDC testing, referential integrity checks, and application smoke testing • Develop SQL and shell automation scripts using SQL*Plus, Bash, PostgreSQL utilities, and Oracle metadata utilities • Create automated workflows to identify missing database objects and generate remediation DDL scripts • Coordinate migration cutovers with cloud engineers, developers, database administrators, and program stakeholders • Author migration procedures, validation checklists, turnover materials, and operational documentation • Validate database definitions based on Java object models, OpenAPI specifications, and microservice data contracts • Collaborate with Java microservice teams to align PostgreSQL schemas with domain objects, persistence models, DTOs, and service requirements • Integrate Liquibase changes into CI/CD pipelines and troubleshoot deployment failures, rollback issues, checksum conflicts, and environment drift • Collaborate with backend developers to support microservice functionality, API contracts, data integrity, and performance

🎯 Requirements

• Approximately four years of professional experience; 4+ years in software engineering, DevOps, or database administration • Strong SQL and database development skills • Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, preferably hosted in AWS RDS • Familiarity with Oracle • Familiarity with AWS Database Migration Service • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git, Bash, and other DevSecOps tools • Agile software development methodology and team practices • Experience using Liquibase or a similar database change management tool • Proficiency with Git-based version control and collaborative development workflows • Familiarity with AWS infrastructure, cloud-hosted database environments, security groups, networking, and application connectivity • Strong troubleshooting skills for schema, data, migration, and deployment issues across environments • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical documentation and collaboration with developers, cloud engineers, and stakeholders • Security+ certification (or willingness to obtain one) • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field • Government security clearance required • Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible to work without visa sponsorship
