• Develop process steam distribution and control systems for industrial applications, particularly chemical and petrochemical plants • Lead development of process steam systems for pressure/heat augmentation, distribution, and interfaces with industrial steam consumer facilities • Define requirements and specifications • Identify and propose optimal solutions through technical analysis and cost/benefit trade-off analysis • Perform thermodynamic analysis of steam systems using modeling and simulation tools • Work on complex tasks across multiple and diverse areas • Stay current on technologies and processes relevant to process steam and industrial power applications • Define the scope of interdisciplinary systems work • Act as technical liaison between the R&D team, procurement, external EPCs, and subcontractors • Perform other duties as assigned • Adhere to NuScale’s safety culture and model safe behavior • Implement quality assurance regulations, standards, and guidelines, including 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and NQA-1
• Minimum M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, Systems Engineering, or Chemical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program • Minimum 5 years of experience in steam and heat distribution system design or operation in the petrochemical and chemical industries • Steam systems experience required • Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810 • Experience with heat exchanger design, steam valves, safety system integration, mechanical actuators, control systems, safety systems, instrumentation, test procedures, operating limits, centrifugal compressor systems, anti-surge control mechanisms, I&C systems, SCADA-controlled systems, and industrial processes preferred • Experience supporting cross-functional engineering, operations, maintenance, and planning teams preferred • Demonstrated project management skills • Ability to travel nationally and locally • Ability to communicate clearly using phones, personal interaction, and computers
