📋 Description

• Own the engineering strategy and roadmap for Porch's insurance platform • Translate Advantaged Underwriting and Best Services for Homeowners into a multi-year plan with Product, Finance, Design, and the business • Lead delivery of the new policy administration system and core platform, including rating, underwriting, billing, and agent and consumer portals • Ensure delivery on time without disrupting the inforce book • Make AI-led engineering the default by integrating AI coding, testing, and review agents into daily team workflows • Measure AI impact on cycle time, quality, and cost • Embed AI into underwriting, quoting, servicing, and agent tools • Establish guardrails for model governance, explainability, and auditability in a regulated environment • Establish and enforce end-to-end execution processes for planning, estimation, release, testing, and compliance controls • Build compliance into the platform to meet NAIC, SEC, and state regulatory requirements • Set KPIs for delivery speed, reliability, quality, and business value • Hire, coach, and grow engineering managers and senior engineers across the US, South America, and India • Build a culture of ownership, learning, and smart risk taking • Manage vendors and partners and make build-versus-buy decisions • Represent engineering with executives, reinsurance partners, and regulators • Explain business results through a technology lens

🎯 Requirements

• 12+ years in software engineering • 8+ years leading engineering teams, including managers • Record of shipping products at pace • Experience leading an organization of about 20+ people across multiple product teams and locations, including distributed or offshore teams • Experience building a core insurance platform, such as policy administration, rating, underwriting, billing, or claims, from architecture through production • Experience integrating with legacy and third-party systems • Strong technical judgment in modern cloud-native architecture and systems integration • Proven AI-led engineering experience, including AI-assisted development, agentic workflows, or LLM-powered product features, with measurable gains in throughput or quality • Experience managing vendor relationships and working across Product, Data Science, and Operations • Strong attention to detail and process discipline • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to influence senior leaders • Familiarity with ICFR and Sarbanes-Oxley • Familiarity with multi-state, multi-product insurance compliance • BS/BA in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field • Preferred: Home or property insurance, Insurtech, or another regulated, data-heavy domain • Preferred: Previous startup or high-growth experience • Must be eligible to work in the United States, as Porch Group is an E-Verify employer
