📋 Description

• Build the agent platform and tooling, including orchestration, tool/function calling, evaluation harnesses, prompt/version management, tracing/observability, and safety/guardrails • Support retrieval-augmented generation, structured extraction, and production inference workflows • Embed AI into software development workflows such as code review assistance, test generation, incident support, and developer copilots • Determine what to delegate to agents versus retain as human work, and scope tasks for agent success • Diagnose agent behavior from traces, inputs, intermediate steps, and failure points • Verify AI outputs, including tests generated by agents • Own applied AI projects from prototype through production, including data needs, system design, model/vendor selection, rollout, monitoring, and iteration • Partner with product, design, and data/ML stakeholders to deliver customer-facing outcomes • Assess AI adoption across teams, identify bottlenecks and failure modes, build missing capabilities, teach existing tools, and promote adoption • Establish engineering best practices for reliability, evaluation, incident response, privacy/security, and AI development • Coach engineers through design reviews, pairing, and technical leadership • Build example initiatives such as agent orchestration, RAG services, AI-in-SDLC rollouts, evaluation harnesses, and organization-level AI adoption diagnostics

🎯 Requirements

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience (or equivalent), including shipping production systems • Direct experience on an Applied AI / product AI team building LLM- or ML-powered features (agents/tooling strongly preferred) • Demonstrated judgment in agent-driven development, including knowing what to delegate, how to scope/context an agent, and how to verify its output • Strong backend/system design skills: APIs, distributed systems, queues/workflows, observability, and performance • Comfort navigating ambiguity and driving outcomes with cross-functional partners • Track record of mentoring peers and leveling up engineering quality • Experience building platform capabilities for other engineers, such as SDKs, internal frameworks, or developer tooling • Practical experience with embeddings, search/retrieval, evaluation methodologies, and model monitoring • Experience building AI-powered tooling/products like agents and assistants at scale • Familiarity with inference constraints, vendor/model tradeoffs, and deployment patterns • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.; employment visa sponsorship is unavailable
