📋 Description

• Lead and participate in the design, development, and deployment of Java REST web service APIs and microservices using Docker and Kubernetes • Ensure service designs follow approved architecture • Learn and incorporate emerging API technologies into APIs • Build event-driven services using Kafka • Use and enhance DevOps tools and processes for CI/CD, including Jenkins, Artifactory, BitBucket, Gradle, Continuous Delivery Director, and Ansible • Mentor and support colleagues in their capabilities • Identify service defects, debug them, and provide effective solutions • Support existing APIs built on older technologies such as WebSphere, DB2, and Java UI when required • Manage and coordinate team activities in a multi-site environment

🎯 Requirements

• Post-secondary diploma or degree in Computer Science • More than 5 years of development and progressive information technology experience, including full application development life cycle and systems integration experience • Strong working experience with Java APIs, REST, SOAP, Spring, JSON, Open API, Swagger, web services, and web hosting technologies • 1+ years of experience using DevOps tools, including Jenkins, Artifactory, BitBucket, Maven, CDD, and Ansible • 1+ years of experience with Kafka and/or Kafka Streams, including KSQL • Experience managing and coordinating team activities in a multi-site environment • Customer-focused mindset • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Strong organizational and planning skills • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Preferred: experience with Kubernetes, Okta, AWS, and MongoDB • Preferred: experience with Group Retirement products and business domains • Working knowledge of Business Rule Management Systems such as IBM ODM • Experience with WebSphere, DB2, Java UI technologies including Swing and Spring MVC, and SonarQube • Exposure to Enterprise Service Bus integration architectures and technologies

🏖️ Benefits

• 12-month contract • Remote work, 37.50 hours per week • Salaried rate of $70–75 per hour or incorporated business rate of $80–85 per hour • Possibility of on-call support • Periodic weekend and after-hours work may be required • Occasional travel between company locations may be required
