📋 Description

• Represent Samsara directly before Congress • Build and maintain relationships with members of Congress, committee staff, and selected federal agency officials • Identify and generate formula funding, grant, appropriations-language, and other programmatic opportunities for Public Sector Sales • Maintain a prioritized opportunities list with recommendations based on market opportunity, feasibility, timing, and pursuit cost • Partner with Public Sector Sales by providing legislative and funding intelligence for pipeline and go-to-market strategy • Monitor developments across Congress, agencies, and target states • Help shape Samsara’s broader policy strategy and priorities • Manage outside consultants, including evaluating proposals and recommendations • Draft and advance legislative language, funding tasks, letters, testimony, and other government-affairs materials • Collaborate with Legal, Marketing, and Product to align advocacy with Samsara’s technology, roadmap, and business direction • Report to the Head of Global Public Policy & Government Affairs

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required • 8+ years of relevant experience in public policy, government affairs, or government • Strong preference for appropriations-focused experience on Capitol Hill or at a federal agency • In-house government affairs experience at a company, ideally coordinating with a sales, GTM, or revenue organization • Deep, first-hand understanding of the federal appropriations and budget process • Demonstrated experience translating the appropriations process into concrete funding outcomes • Track record of proactively generating opportunities • Established relationships with congressional offices, committee staff, and/or federal agency officials relevant to transportation, infrastructure, or technology funding • Demonstrated judgment in evaluating policy or funding opportunities • Experience working with outside consultants and critically assessing their strategy and pitches • Ability to persuasively and diplomatically advocate complex policy positions • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills • Ability to summarize policy issues and advocacy points concisely • Experience managing multiple high-priority projects simultaneously in a fast-moving environment • Experience with DOT, surface transportation, infrastructure, public safety funding programs, or state/local technology procurement processes is ideal • Ability to translate government-to-business and business-to-government issues • Ability to identify potential sales-enablement opportunities and challenges • Familiarity with physical operations, transportation, or public sector technology landscapes
