• Design transmission lines in the 69kV to 500kV range • Perform cost analyses and develop design criteria • Handle routing and siting of transmission lines • Conduct conductor selection, shielding, grounding, and induction studies • Work with vendors and clients to specify transmission line components • Direct a small project team • Work with experienced engineers and mentor less experienced staff • Interact with a diverse client base and other project teams • Travel occasionally for site visits and client meetings • Develop proposals and cost estimates for new work • Use data, automation, artificial intelligence, and other digital tools where relevant to support research, analysis, engineering, design, and workflow improvement, applying professional judgment and review
• No work authorization sponsorship in Canada • May require access to U.S. export-controlled information; candidates must be a citizen of a country listed in Appendix A to Part 810 of the Code of Federal Regulations • BS degree from a Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board-accredited undergraduate program or a US-based ABET-accredited program • Proficiency with PLS-CADD software to review transmission line models • 5 or more years of experience as a member of a project team on diverse transmission assignments • Experience with transmission line design incorporating code requirements, cost estimate development, schedule creation and coordination, preparation of transmission line materials and construction specifications, and liaison with construction and installation • Knowledge of right-of-way requirements, conductor sags/tensions, transmission line plan and profile drawings, and construction documents • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles for technical plans, drawings, and models • Experience writing and providing support documentation for engineering calculations • Familiarity with NESC, IEC, CSA, IEEE, ANSI, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI 318 • Proficiency with MS Office applications • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Attention to detail • P.Eng license or ability to acquire one within one year is valued but not required • Experience developing engineering proposals and cost estimates is valued but not required • Experience with scheduling is valued but not required • Proficiency with PLS-TOWER, SAG10, LPILE, MFAD, ArcGIS, CDEGS, AutoCAD, or MicroStation is valued but not required
