📋 Description

• Own the technical direction of every internal AI system and write a large share of it. • Define and prototype reference architectures for RAG pipelines, agent loops, evals, the LLM gateway, observability, and cost control. • Ship production systems end-to-end: requirements, prototype, deploy, instrument, and iterate. • Set the technical bar through code review, eval coverage, prompt-injection defense, and cost-per-outcome discipline. • Run intake with business and executive stakeholders and decide what the team builds, buys, or declines. • Own the acceptance gate and UAT confirmation before release. • Present outcomes in monthly executive reviews, quarterly business reviews, and team demos. • Recruit, train, and run an AI champions network with at least one champion per business unit. • Run the champions cadence and internal community of practice. • Design and deploy role-specific AI literacy training across business functions. • Own build-vs-buy decisions for training vendors and certification pathways. • Own the internal AI Slack channel, newsletter, town halls, and success-story library. • Run weekly AI Engineering Team office hours and remove recurring policy, tooling, and integration friction. • Own adoption telemetry, identify dark spots, design interventions, and report metrics. • Roll out acceptable-use policies and new tools in practice; advise on licensing based on adoption and ROI. • Extend champions and training to partner operations and surface AI use cases across 1,600+ financial-institution relationships. • Manage the AI Engineer on the newly chartered AI Engineering Team and report to the VP, Information Security & DevOps.

🎯 Requirements

• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for employer sponsorship now or in the future. • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including production LLM systems you personally architected and shipped. • Deep hands-on proficiency in Python and cloud-native AWS development. • Strong opinions on evals, cost-per-outcome, latency, and prompt-injection defense. • Deep technical literacy with modern AI tools (Copilot, Cursor, Claude, Glean, ChatGPT) — you use them daily, not just demo them. • Strong analytical mindset with experience defining adoption metrics, instrumenting telemetry, and reporting to executive audiences. • Excellent written and verbal communication. • Demonstrated success driving organization-wide behavior change and running a champions network or community of practice at scale (500+ employees). • Comfort working cross-functionally with engineering, legal, security, HR, and business leadership. • Preferred: fintech, lending, or financial services background. • Preferred: prior experience in InfoSec, DevOps, or a regulated-industry technical function. • Preferred: PE-portfolio company experience. • Preferred: experience with AI governance frameworks (NIST AI RMF, ISO 42001, or equivalent). • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or compelling self-taught equivalent.
