• Investigate automobile insurance claims on behalf of insurers or third parties • Gather relevant information related to losses • Determine coverage and claim validity • Communicate with insureds and claimants • Prepare reports and negotiate settlements • Maintain concise and accurate records in internal computer systems • Review and interpret policy wording to apply coverage • Manage billing for assigned files within prescribed timelines • Maintain excellent working relationships with existing clients • Participate in ongoing training on industry issues, legislative changes, and trends • Identify needs and coordinate the assignment of mandates to field claims adjusters • Perform any other related duties as assigned
• Hold the claims adjuster license required in the applicable province • Obtain the required license in the local province or in a combination of other provinces within six months of the hire date • Hold a four-year university degree or equivalent, relevant claims-handling experience, or a two-year college diploma in a related field • Be enrolled in the Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) program or hold the CIP designation • Quebec claims adjuster license (AMF) required, or the ability to obtain one • Experience handling commercial claims and/or holding a Quebec commercial claims adjuster license is considered a significant asset • Successful completion of Sedgwick’s trainee program or prior experience with a third-party administrator (TPA), field claims adjusting, or an insurer • One to three years of experience managing and settling claims • Transportation/cargo claims experience is an asset • Excellent claims-handling, negotiation, and analytical skills • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills • Advanced proficiency with computer tools, including Microsoft Office, Outlook, and web applications
