• Assist with SGI and Data Office data model activities, including developing, maintaining, and publishing data models for business reporting and advanced analytics • Align data solutions with business outcomes, Data Office strategies, and enterprise systems vision • Maintain knowledge of emerging data modeling techniques and educate Data Office, Systems, and business stakeholders • Collaborate with business and technology subject-matter experts to develop representative data models • Contribute technical data practitioner expertise to complex RFP development, requirements, evaluation, and recommendations • Present solutions to the business, explain trade-offs, and provide technical expertise • Identify technology interactions and dependencies across data systems and platforms • Research, analyze, and recommend data model designs and delivery approaches • Design solutions for high availability, connectivity, and disaster recovery • Provide technical advice and support regarding data models and schemas • Ensure data model designs follow security policies and architecture principles • Write technical proposals, reports, and manuals • Model operational and analytical data on SGI’s Azure data platform • Define data processing requirements and dependencies for ingestion, standardization, integration, and consumption • Design, develop, publish, and maintain the Azure data platform semantic layer and data lineage • Maintain standards for data integration, naming conventions, reference data, profiling support, and metadata • Translate business and systems requirements into relevant data structures • Instantiate physical data models and optimize data performance • Review and participate in testing and acceptance of data model designs, mappings, infrastructure, and data pipelines • Build and deliver data education and training for the Data & Analytics program • Identify and resolve data issues affecting service-level agreement commitments • Enable data governance, data quality, and metadata in alignment with SGI policies and standards • Support leadership, continuous learning, knowledge sharing, mentoring, training, and organizational transformation
• Four-year degree from an accredited post-secondary education institution in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Mathematics & Applied Science, Engineering, or Information Technology, or defined equivalency • Five to seven years of experience in a Data Modeler role or equivalent technology role • Advanced knowledge of database structures, theories, principles, and practices • Advanced knowledge of data modeling techniques, including data gathering, inspection, cleansing, and transformation • Advanced skill using data modeling tools and approaches, including physical implementation issues, data strategies, design implications, and performance requirements • Proficient knowledge of solution design, database design and management, application integration, agile implementation, and machine learning methods • Proficient knowledge of data storage and warehousing solutions such as Azure Data Lake, Cosmos DB, and Synapse Analytics • Proficient knowledge of Azure cloud data platform, Azure Stream, Azure Data Lake, Blob Storage, Synapse, Databricks, Azure Data Factory, and cloud best practices • Fundamental knowledge of Azure D&A frameworks • Fundamental knowledge of strategic D&A implementation migrations • Fundamental knowledge of Property and Casualty industry products and services • Leader Level 3 behavioural competencies
