📋 Description

• Provide guidance, mentorship, and career development for software engineers • Support the Product organization across Engineering, Product Management, and Design • Manage 2–3 cross-functional product pods, each with 2–4 engineers, a Product Manager, and a Designer • Implement features, address shortcomings, and respond to customer requests across the codebase • Provide technical direction and develop engineers’ technical leadership capabilities • Interview and recruit engineers • Develop engineering culture and processes as the organization grows • Achieve business outcomes through cross-functional collaboration • Improve team performance and work quality; make major design decisions • Hire, nurture, and oversee engineers while fostering psychological well-being, diversity, and inclusion • Lead a team managing a critical production service, including monitoring, alerting, and on-call operations • Moderate design discussions and cultivate a feedback culture • Collaborate on complex projects across technical domains • Drive short-term tactical and long-term strategic planning

🎯 Requirements

• Experience as a people manager; substantial experience managing and mentoring engineering teams • Experience with performance evaluations and career development • Background building and operating production services with high availability and performance targets • Expertise managing on-call rotations and incident response • Highly technical management capability and ability to evaluate complex technical tradeoffs • Experience developing in Go • Ability to give and process constructive feedback and work independently • Flexibility to adjust to the dynamic nature of a startup
