• Lead a high-volume portfolio of over 100 units • Own group P&L performance, strategic growth, and long-term value creation • Lead and mentor Regional Operations Directors • Build operational structure, talent pipeline, and accountability across the field organization • Drive operational excellence, labor productivity, and para-labor optimization • Execute VCA and United in Care enterprise programs • Design and execute growth strategies, including client acquisition and engagement initiatives • Oversee group financial and business performance • Lead capital planning, facility improvements, and marketing strategy • Set cultural direction and foster a high-trust, inclusive environment • Partner with Medical Operations, People & Organization, Finance, Talent Acquisition, Marketing, Facilities, and other support functions • Drive cross-hospital collaboration • Support the Triad of Care model and coordinate medical training and Associate development • Ensure exceptional medical care, client experience, NPS, and operational excellence across hospitals • Partner on attracting, hiring, onboarding, retaining, and developing veterinarians • Develop and support new doctors and new graduates through onboarding, training, and integration • Optimize doctor productivity, workflows, feedback, medical quality, and hospital outcomes • Fulfill other related duties as assigned
• Reside in the region supported; relocation is available • 10+ years of related experience; 12+ preferred • Bachelor’s Degree / MBA or DVM preferred • Advanced digital fluency with productivity platforms, including MS365 • Ability to travel extensively within the assigned group/region, estimated 50–75% field travel including overnight stays • Participation in relevant national or state associations • Proven experience managing a substantial P&L of $500M+ and multi-site operational leadership across 100+ units • Ability to coach, lead, and develop leaders • Strong proficiency in Excel and Power BI • Experience in veterinary, healthcare, pharmacy, high-volume retail, or related multi-site services industry • Strong command of hospital operations, P&L ownership, pricing strategy, contract negotiation, revenue optimization, and labor management • Ability to adopt emerging technologies, enterprise systems, and AI-enabled tools • Ability to analyze reports and data, drive change, and establish ROI and KPIs • Ability to integrate business discipline with medical priorities • Skilled communication of complex ideas to audiences at all levels • Innovation and creativity • Ability to manage up and down and scale up and down • Proven ability to lead at scale
