📋 Description

• Provide quality, patient-focused nursing care to patients in the hemodialysis unit • Perform assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation within the nursing process • Ensure safe nursing practice and compliance with policies and procedures • Provide professional, patient-centred care supporting patient safety and physical and psychological well-being • Build therapeutic relationships and environments in a diverse cultural setting • Follow infection prevention and control measures • Recognize changes in patient health status and respond to emergency situations • Consult appropriately and use transfer-of-accountability principles • Provide health teaching to patients and families, including discharge instructions • Collaborate as part of an inter-professional health care team • Practice according to Osler standards, College of Nurses regulatory standards, and legislative requirements • Potentially travel and work between all Osler sites

🎯 Requirements

• Clinical experience within the last five years, with a minimum of two years in an acute care setting • Minimum of one year of current/recent hemodialysis experience • Nephrology certificate or proof of enrollment, with completion within 18 months of hire • Completion and application of vascular access modules from the Ontario Renal Network • Knowledge of Nephrology Nursing Standards and Practice Recommendations and Canadian Association of Nephrology Nurses and Technologists hemodialysis procedures • Current registration and good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario • BCLS certification • Sound knowledge of nursing process, theory, and professional responsibilities • Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, conflict-resolution, decision-making, organizational, critical-thinking, and customer service skills • Ability to work collaboratively in an inter-professional team • Patient and family health-teaching experience • Leadership and facilitation skills • Ability to work in stressful and fast-paced environments • Ability to prioritize patient care and make autonomous decisions • Excellent physical assessment skills • Knowledge of patient and family-centred care, infection control, Occupational Health and Safety Act, information systems and technology • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development • Ability to travel and work between all Osler sites, if required • Excellent attendance, punctuality, and work record • Must demonstrate Osler's Values of Respect, Excellence, Service, Compassion, Innovation, and Collaboration • Membership in Canadian Association of Nephrology Nurses and Technicians preferred • CNeph designation preferred • 80% score on a nephrology quiz required before interview
