📋 Description

• Provide quality, patient-focused nursing care to patients in the hemodialysis unit • Perform assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation throughout the nursing process • Comply with policies and procedures associated with patient observations • Provide professional, patient-centred care supporting patient safety and physiological and psychological well-being • Build therapeutic relationships and environments in a diverse cultural setting • Follow infection control and prevention measures • Respond to emergencies by recognizing changes in patient health status and consulting appropriately • Provide health teaching to patients and families, including thorough discharge instructions • Work as part of an inter-professional health care team • Practice according to Osler policies, College of Nurses regulatory standards and legislative requirements • Develop appropriate patient-care strategies and promote client safety • May travel and work between Osler sites

🎯 Requirements

• Clinical experience within the last five years • Minimum of two years in an acute care setting • Minimum of one year of current/recent hemodialysis experience • Nephrology certificate required or proof of enrollment required, with completion within 18 months of hire • Completion and application of vascular access modules from the Ontario Renal Network • Knowledge of Nephrology Nursing Standards and Practice Recommendations and Canadian Association of Nephrology Nurses and Technologists standards as they relate to hemodialysis • Current registration and good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario • BCLS certification • Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, conflict-resolution and decision-making skills • Ability to work collaboratively as part of an inter-professional team • Patient and family-centred care knowledge • Patient and family health-teaching experience • Leadership and facilitation skills • Customer service, organizational and critical-thinking skills • Ability to work in a stressful and fast-paced environment • Ability to prioritize patient care needs and make autonomous decisions • Excellent physical assessment skills • Knowledge and understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act • Ability to work between all Osler sites as required • Excellent attendance, punctuality and work record • Knowledge and understanding of information systems and technology • Prior to interview, an 80% score on a nephrology quiz must be obtained
