📋 Description

• Own the technical direction across Heartbeat AI’s engineering domain, including Mobile Apps, Energy Data, and the IoT platform • Keep the architecture aligned with product strategy • Ensure consistent execution of technical decisions and hold the team accountable for implementation • Set the technical standard and solve the most difficult technical problems • Translate business and product requirements into technical solutions • Mentor and challenge Heartbeat AI engineers • Build and maintain a high-performing engineering culture • Embed security and reliability as direct customer-facing value • Architect systems and APIs for AI agents with machine-readable contracts and structured error handling • Drive Heartbeat AI’s shift toward agentic engineering • Own the architecture of the AI systems powering the product, from EMS to energy tariffs • Report directly to the CTO

🎯 Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of hands-on software development experience • Extensive hands-on experience with multiple general-purpose programming languages • Proven track record of architecting scalable and secure systems • Extensive experience designing and implementing APIs for integration and system communication • Agile, results-oriented mindset with emphasis on collaboration and teamwork • Ability to communicate with stakeholders in business terms and to understand technical implications • Experience driving technical alignment and following through on critical technical decisions in fast-paced environments • Experience designing systems and APIs for agent consumption, including structured errors and clear contracts • Ability to guide an engineering team through the transition to agentic engineering • Experience architecting AI/ML-driven or data-intensive systems, ideally in an energy or IoT context • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English • German proficiency is a plus
