âą Identify and develop professional, trusting relationships with external experts in assigned therapeutic areas and geography âą Conduct balanced, peer-to-peer scientific dialogue about AbbVie products across their lifecycle âą Engage in scientific exchange on relevant disease-state topics âą Deliver credible scientific presentations to external experts and healthcare professionals âą Facilitate collection and reporting of medical and scientific field intelligence, including competitor information and new developments âą Engage investigators working on AbbVie clinical studies, including investigator identification, study-initiation training, and scientific information support âą Liaise with healthcare professionals regarding unsolicited investigator-initiated study requests and facilitate related communications âą Respond to unsolicited requests for off-label information in compliance with applicable requirements âą Assist with requests for named-patient or compassionate-use access to AbbVie medicines when requested âą Support research and educational initiatives at key academic centres âą Conduct all activities in accordance with laws, regulations, guidelines, codes of conduct, and AbbVie policies âą Maintain current scientific expertise in AbbVie products, therapeutic areas, disease states, and the competitive landscape âą Develop and execute territory external-expert engagement plans with internal colleagues âą Collaborate with in-field teams to address scientific and medical needs âą Serve as a scientific resource to internal AbbVie functions, including Commercial partners where appropriate âą Deliver scientific training for sales, marketing, and brand teams âą Attend scientific meetings and congresses and develop summaries of key data with internal colleagues
âą Advanced degree in health sciences or clinical discipline required âą Doctorate level degree (i.e. Pharm D, MD/DO, PhD) âą Candidates with an undergraduate degree and significant relevant experience may be considered âą Greater than or equal to 2 years of clinical, scientific/research, or industry related experience or equivalent strongly preferred âą Solid knowledge of the pharmaceutical environment and the role of Medical Affairs preferred âą Experience in a Medical Science Liaison (or similar) role with proven success preferred âą Ability to interpret clinical data and clearly communicate key aspects of data and impact to practice/patients âą Ability to quickly learn new subject areas and environments âą Experience developing and maintaining expert knowledge for the assigned therapeutic area and medical research in general âą Excellent written and spoken communication and presentation skills in the local language and English preferred âą Ability to develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships âą Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team and in a matrix environment âą Robust understanding of the local healthcare environment âą Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously âą Ability to travel frequently within the stipulated geographical area, and occasionally nationally/internationally
