• Create visual effects for games, including combat, ability, environmental, ambient, and UI feedback effects • Build and maintain VFX in Unreal Engine 5 using Niagara • Implement particle effects, destruction, fluid, and other physics-based simulations • Develop procedural VFX solutions to improve iteration speed and consistency • Create and tune post-process effects such as bloom, distortion, and screen-space effects • Create supporting textures, materials, shaders, and 3D models for VFX assets • Integrate VFX with gameplay logic using Blueprints, with C++ programming support where needed • Collaborate with Designers, Animators, Art Direction, 3D Artists, and other teams • Translate briefs and art direction into effects matching each project's visual style and tone • Contribute to style guides and reference boards • Iterate on effects based on feedback • Help define and improve VFX workflows and pipelines • Work on multiple game titles across different platforms simultaneously
• Strong portfolio demonstrating particle and VFX work for real-time games • Solid understanding of particle systems, timing, color, and motion • Experience creating and implementing VFX directly in Unreal Engine 5 using Niagara • Good knowledge of shaders and materials for VFX, including Unreal Material Editor / Shader Graph • Very good understanding of real-time VFX performance and optimization, including draw calls, overdraw, texture and LOD budgets, and in-engine profiling tools • Experience with procedural VFX and simulation workflows, including destruction and fluid effects • Proficiency with industry-standard 2D/3D tools such as Photoshop, Affinity Photo, or Blender • Eye for detail and consistency across stylized and realistic visual styles • Experience integrating VFX with gameplay via Blueprints • Understanding of vector math and core art fundamentals including lighting, composition, and color theory • Experience creating supporting 3D models for VFX-related assets • Experience with procedural/simulation tools such as Houdini or Embergen • Background in traditional art fundamentals • Interest in bridging Art and Technical Art • Motivation to learn German • Self-motivated, self-directed, reliable, and proactive • Collaborative team player who enjoys solving problems together • Able to gather, analyze, and act on team feedback and open to critique • Eager to learn and research new tools, styles, and techniques • Confident English communication, verbally and in writing • Happy to work with the team in Munich, Germany
