📋 Description

• Manage Airbnb.org emergency responses in the APAC region and support global responses as required • Monitor global disasters and assess whether events meet activation criteria • Establish, activate, and oversee emergency housing responses with on-the-ground partners • Manage simultaneous disaster responses across countries and stages • Track response status, spend, and people housed • Communicate status, decisions, and next steps to internal and external stakeholders and partners • Manage responses end to end, including partner readiness, response size and stay lengths, operations launch, placement monitoring, issue resolution, and close-out • Manage partner onboarding and active-emergency partnerships, including handoff to the Partnerships team • Answer and escalate partner questions during live responses • Work with Partnerships and Operations teams to optimize housing supply, reduce costs, and maximize impact • Collaborate with Strategic Partnerships to coordinate major-disaster responses • Improve non-crisis operational readiness, activation criteria, playbooks, partner agreements, global coverage, team capacity, and product requirements • Build relationships with government bodies and emergency management authorities • Deploy to disaster zones on short notice to manage ground operations and complete handoffs • Write after-action reviews and implement resulting changes

🎯 Requirements

• Minimum 8–16 years of experience in US / APAC or international emergency and disaster response operations, focused on managing large-scale programs • Direct experience activating and running disaster responses end to end • Experience in Social Impact at tech companies is a plus • Strong track record building and maintaining partnerships with nonprofits, government agencies, and key stakeholders • Clear, timely, and proactive written and in-person communication with internal and external cross-functional stakeholders and partners • Proactive self-starter able to take initiative and work with limited direction • Comfortable with ambiguity • Proven ability to manage multiple work streams simultaneously in a matrixed organization • Strong execution skills • Excellent leadership and communication skills, including influencing across functions and teams not directly managed • Adaptability and sound decision-making in fast-paced, high-pressure environments • Willingness to travel on short notice for 30–50% of the year and flexibility regarding stay length • Ability to deploy to the field on short notice
