📋 Description

• Optimising the performance, availability and reliability of production databases. • Supporting and improving MongoDB and Percona/MySQL environments. • Reviewing and improving replica sets, sharding, replication and clustering. • Troubleshooting database issues and carrying out root cause analysis. • Designing and validating backup and disaster recovery solutions. • Building and improving database monitoring, observability and alerting. • Leading database upgrades, migrations and optimisation projects. • Working closely with DevOps, infrastructure and application teams to deliver reliable database platforms. • Creating documentation, runbooks and sharing best practices with the wider engineering team.

🎯 Requirements

• 7+ years' experience in Database Engineering or Database Reliability Engineering. • Strong hands-on experience with Percona/MySQL. • Commercial experience supporting MongoDB (including replica sets, sharding, indexing and performance tuning). • Experience with PostgreSQL is beneficial. • Strong understanding of replication, clustering and high availability. • Experience with backup and disaster recovery, including Percona XtraBackup. • Experience using monitoring tools such as Percona Monitoring and Management (PMM), Prometheus and Grafana. • Good Linux/Unix administration and scripting skills. • Experience working with AWS, Azure or GCP database services is an advantage
