📋 Description

• Develop software managing physical-layer connectivity from 1GBASE-T connectors to 1.6T long-reach optics • Build instrumentation and telemetry tools for monitoring and troubleshooting physical link health • Define standards for new media with Optics teams and bring them to market • Add features, debug problems, and optimize code for scalability and performance • Own projects from definition through deployment and customer interactions • Interface with customers, product management, and hardware engineers to develop Layer1 features • Architect, design, and manage feature development • Develop and maintain features using C, C++, and Python • Review and contribute to functional and design specifications • Build automated tests and test infrastructure • Work with hardware and manufacturing teams to bring Phys and transceivers to market • Design software control interfaces for Layer1 components with hardware engineers • Provide technical leadership across features, projects, and tools • Analyze and resolve customer network and system-test problems • Mentor new and junior engineers • Collaborate with Customer Support Engineers, customers, and System Test Engineers

🎯 Requirements

• BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering plus 8 years of experience, or MS plus 6 years, or Ph.D. plus 3 years, or equivalent work experience • Expert knowledge of C or C++ and Python • Knowledge of UNIX or Linux • Applied understanding of software engineering principles • Strong problem-solving and software troubleshooting skills • Ability to design a solution and implement features independently • Ability to work in small teams • Knowledge of digital communication technologies such as modulation and signal encoding schemes is a plus • Understanding of IP networking and/or distributed systems is a plus • Experience working with low-level hardware components is a plus
