📋 Description

• Define and drive the technical vision and direction for the Foundations group with the Sr. Director, Foundations • Lead architecture decisions for EMR integrations, caching infrastructure, shared services, APIs, data models, and integration patterns • Serve as a technical escalation point and conduct design reviews for reliability, performance, and security • Drive SLOs, capacity planning, incident-ready designs, and systemic reliability improvements • Execute high-priority, technically challenging projects and own complex multi-team initiatives end to end • Design application-performance strategies and reduce external API dependencies • Build, maintain, monitor, and optimize caching infrastructure • Establish platform best practices for product engineering teams • Build shared libraries, SDKs, and internal APIs to improve developer productivity • Create documentation, examples, and guidelines for platform services • Provide technical guidance during product-team integration efforts • Embed unit, functional, and contract testing and automated checks • Instrument features with consistent Mixpanel analytics • Partner with Product and Data on dashboards and monitoring reflecting user and clinical outcomes • Drive post-incident reviews and systemic improvements • Mentor senior and mid-level engineers through design guidance, pairing, and code review • Define and uphold engineering standards, architecture patterns, and documentation norms • Model a pragmatic, product-focused approach balancing high standards with iterative delivery

🎯 Requirements

• Approximately 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant senior/staff individual-contributor experience building production product experiences • Track record of owning and shipping multi-team projects in modern web stacks • Experience working closely with product and design on user-facing features • Ability to lead technical decisions in ambiguous domains and explain tradeoffs • Strong full-stack skills, including API and data-model design, UI development, monitoring, and metrics • Deep familiarity with at least one cloud provider and infrastructure-as-code • Strong systems-design instincts covering reliability, performance, security, and cost • Excellent debugging and incident-response skills, including logs, traces, and data analysis • Proven ability to lead through influence across teams and partners • Comfortable working cross-functionally with clinicians, operations, and research • Clear written and verbal communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders • Enjoys mentoring and developing other engineers • Experience in healthcare, digital health, or regulated domains such as HIPAA, PHI, or SOC 2 is nice to have • Exposure to EHRs, wearables integrations, or health-data platforms is nice to have
