• Identify trends impeding students’ academic success • Conduct targeted outreach and provide instruction to groups and individuals • Mentor and teach students in Frontend Web Development courses using JavaScript, HTML, and CSS • Support courses WDD 130, WDD 131, WDD 231, and WDD 330 • Use university and department procedures and materials to teach and mentor students • Maintain in-depth knowledge of curriculum and weekly assignments • Respond promptly to student questions and concerns about course content and assignments • Facilitate learning through posts, announcements, emails, one-on-one virtual meetings, and videos • Communicate regularly with students about participation and performance • Carry out class-wide, group-wide, and individual outreach plans based on student trends and needs • Develop meaningful relationships with students through consistent communication • Track communication histories and student interactions and plan follow-ups • Participate in occasional training exercises and meetings • Apply training and evaluation feedback to improve performance • Build capable learners who are confident in their academic and life success • Instructors do not develop lessons or assessments and do not issue grades; grading is handled by a centrally managed pool of qualified graders
• Candidates must be fluent in English and submit their application in English • Must currently live in and be authorized to work in Brazil • Fluency in English and Portuguese required • Completed bachelor’s degree is the minimum requirement • Academic documents must be officially recognized in Brazil and the country of origin • Adaptability to new processes, procedures, and technologies • Excellent interpersonal skills; professional, respectful, and unbiased in sensitive situations • Proven reliability and ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, video conferencing, and discipline-specific software • Experience with online teaching/learning, especially with at-risk learners, preferred • Master’s degree in computer science or a related field and two years of professional web development experience preferred • Bachelor’s degree and 3–5 years of work experience may be considered • Experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and JSON required • Understanding of web design principles, including simplicity, responsiveness, usability, and visual design • Expert proficiency in DOM manipulation, form and event handling, JavaScript objects and functions, CSS layout and presentation, and data retrieval mechanisms • Experience with version control software such as GitHub • Experience with code editors such as Visual Studio Code • Experience with browser tools such as Chrome Developer Tools • Ability to communicate clearly in writing • Must uphold the CES Honor Code and dress and grooming expectations • Must provide an official transcript and copy of diploma if advancing to the next hiring stage
