• Identify trends impeding students’ academic success • Conduct targeted outreach and provide instruction to groups and individuals • Mentor and teach students using university and department procedures and materials • Maintain in-depth knowledge of the curriculum and weekly assignments • Respond promptly to student questions and concerns about course content and assignments • Facilitate learning through posts/announcements, emails, occasional one-on-one virtual meetings, and videos • Communicate regularly with students about participation and performance • Execute class-wide, group-wide, and individual outreach plans based on student trends and needs • Build genuine relationships through regular communication across approved channels • Respond consistently and promptly to students who respond to targeted outreach • Track communication histories and meaningful student interactions and plan follow-ups • Participate in occasional training exercises and meetings • Apply training and evaluation feedback to improve performance • Do not develop lessons or assessments and do not issue grades; grading is handled by a centrally managed pool of qualified graders
• Must currently live in and be authorized to work in Brazil • Must be fluent in English and Portuguese • Must submit the application in English • Master’s degree or higher in Portuguese language (Letras) or a related field such as Journalism, Linguistics, or Technical Writing • Completed bachelor’s degree is the minimum requirement; in-progress transcripts and associate-level/technólogo degrees are not acceptable • Academic documents must be officially recognized in Brazil and the country of origin • Adaptability to new processes, procedures, and technologies • Excellent interpersonal skills; professional, respectful, and unbiased in sensitive situations • Proven reliability and ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, video conferencing, and discipline-specific software • Experience with online teaching/learning, especially with at-risk learners, preferred • Professional experience in online and/or classroom teaching or a closely related field desired • Must be available 10–12 hours per week and work at least 5 days each week • Required attendance at periodic team meetings • Commitment to BYU-Pathway Worldwide’s mission, defining characteristics, student population, and CES Honor Code/dress and grooming expectations
