📋 Description

• Lead development and piloting of an All-Hazards, All-Risks School Safety Plan Guide with model templates • Develop hazard-specific preparedness toolkits for heat, flooding, cyclones, tsunami and other relevant hazards • Deliver 4 capacity-strengthening sessions for UNESCO Field Offices • Provide technical support on response plans, project proposals, and engagement with government authorities and partners • Support resource mobilization efforts, including development of a climate-related funding strategy and 2 funding proposals • Participate in global and regional coordination mechanisms, technical working groups and relevant events • Produce deliverables including a school safety guide piloted by 3 UNESCO Field Offices, hazard preparedness toolkits, 4 training sessions, a resource mobilization strategy, and 2 draft funding proposals • Report directly to the Chief of Section for Education in Emergencies

🎯 Requirements

• Advanced degree (master’s or equivalent) in education, social sciences or a related field • Minimum of 10 years of relevant international professional experience, including operational experience in the field and providing technical support at country and regional level • Familiarity/working directly with UN/multilateral organizations and professional networks related to DRR, climate change and education • Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills • Ability to interact with a variety of actors and work effectively in a multicultural environment • Fluency in English required • Knowledge of another UN official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and/or Spanish) desirable • Proposal and supporting documents must be submitted in English
