📋 Description

• Design and build the Bazel-based build and test architecture for Checkmk’s Build & Test Platform • Own and evolve the Bazel setup across several concurrently maintained product versions • Drive hermeticity, dependency boundaries, toolchain management and architectural migrations • Measure and optimize build and test times, including remote caching, remote execution and cache hit rates • Develop pipeline architecture, build and release tooling, and failure diagnostics • Improve developer experience by helping developers understand and resolve failures independently • Collaborate with product teams, QA and the wider CI team • Understand developer pain points and turn them into a technical roadmap

🎯 Requirements

• Solid experience with Bazel, especially Platform, Toolchains and Rules • Openness to new technologies • Experience, background or openness in Python programming • Linux command-line knowledge for navigation and troubleshooting • Interest in working in an open-source environment • Strong background in CI/CD pipelines • Ability to design build systems such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions or GitLab CI • Proficiency in scripting and automation with Python and Bash • Understanding of dependency management, caching and distributed builds • Familiarity with containerization using Docker • Experience with monorepos and large-scale codebase management is a plus • Proactive mindset and strong problem-solving skills • Ability to work across teams • Fluent communication in English
