📋 Description

• Maintain and extend hundreds of scrapers that continuously pull court data into the system • Ingest millions of documents and merge them safely into the production database • Help build and evolve the portal receiving digitization work at the United States Library of Congress • Convert scanned material into structured text and documents and merge it into the archive • Work on machine learning processes that identify and remove copyrighted material • Design batch operations across five to ten million records efficiently • Diagnose slow queries, review migrations, and provide database support to the team

🎯 Requirements

• Professional, in-depth Python experience • Strong Django experience; Django is the framework used and the single most important skill • Strong database fundamentals, including PostgreSQL, execution plans, query optimization, indexes, and migrations • Production web scraping experience, including building, maintaining, and debugging scrapers • Celery, Redis, and Kubernetes experience are nice to have • Machine learning applied to document processing (OCR, classification, extraction) is nice to have • Experience with legal data, civic tech, govtech, or open data is nice to have • Elasticsearch or similar search infrastructure experience is nice to have • Genuine interest in law, access to justice, or social justice work is nice to have
