📋 Description

• Own the full accounting function for a fast-scaling premium food brand sold through major retail, natural channel, and direct-to-consumer distribution • Bring day-to-day accounting in house from an outside firm • Run monthly, quarterly, and annual close on a proactive calendar • Own AP, AR, bank and credit card reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, and intercompany entries • Maintain reconciled balance sheets and timely income statements with actionable variance commentary • Reconcile finished goods, raw materials, and packaging inventory across multiple locations and channels • Track inventory from purchase through production, warehousing, and sale • Investigate and resolve discrepancies between the ledger, warehouse records, and third-party systems • Build inventory reporting for stock levels, valuation, and COGS visibility • Apply US GAAP revenue recognition for CPG/FMCG, including gross-to-net, trade spend, slotting, promotions, and returns • Maintain audit-ready and lender-ready books; own audit preparation and support auditors and tax preparers • Manage retail and distributor deductions and chargebacks, including shortages, MCBs, spoilage, and freight • Validate, dispute, file, track, and recover deductions; contact customers and distributors regarding AR, collections, and disputes • Analyze margin, COGS, vendor spend, and freight to identify savings opportunities • Manage cash reporting, AR aging, vendor terms, forecasting inputs, and line-of-credit inputs • Own sales tax, 1099s, internal controls, and diligence readiness • Build and maintain live dashboards for close status, AR aging, inventory, deductions and recovery, cash, and margin • Own the cloud finance stack, including Xero and Airtable • Connect and automate ledger, banking, Airtable, deduction management, OCR, and settlement tools • Use Claude daily for reconciliation, categorization, dispute packages, analysis, and documented processes while checking its work

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field • At least 5 years of full-cycle accounting, including running a monthly close and preparing financial statements • CPG inventory reconciliation experience, including understanding inventory movement through a food or consumer goods brand and reconciliation across locations and channels • Proven ability to build dashboards providing live visibility into financial and operational performance • Strong Claude AI proficiency and daily use with output verification • Working command of US GAAP with experience supporting US-based companies • Comfortable owning and running Xero and Airtable • Exposure to trade spend, deductions, and distributor or retailer chargeback disputes • Excellent written and spoken English with proactive communication across time zones • CPG, FMCG, food and beverage, or consumer goods experience strongly preferred • CPA or local equivalent nice to have • Experience with natural channel distributors such as UNFI or KeHE nice to have • Background supporting a high-growth or venture-backed consumer brand nice to have • Prior experience bringing accounting in house from an outside firm nice to have • Experience building automated accounting workflows, including OCR, settlement reconciliation, or deduction management tooling, nice to have • Updated resume required • Short 1–2 minute Loom video required; candidates without one will not proceed
