📋 Description

• Run the monthly accounting cycle for a simulated portfolio of small, owner-managed clients • Check payroll instructions, process payroll, and confirm tax payment dates • Prepare EMP201 covering PAYE, SDL, and UIF; reconcile it to payroll and prepare payment • Review monthly client packs and verify all required records are present and cover the correct month • Capture and code bank and card transactions • Post stock, depreciation, payroll, creditor, and debtor journals • Reconcile bank and card accounts and maintain loan and owner’s loan schedules • Draft monthly management reports with income statement, balance sheet, gross profit analysis, and commentary • Prepare VAT workings and VAT201 returns every second month and prepare payment • Clear AI partner review notes, save final versions, and close each month • Identify inconsistencies and outdated or changed source-file content • File documents according to the period they belong to • Request missing or unclear records from simulated client management and bookkeepers • Flag turnover above the R2.3m VAT registration threshold when a client is not registered • Document accounting steps, decisions, and judgments as training data for an AI model • Design and refine step-by-step accounting workflows for AI • Test AI output against completed work, identify errors, and help fix them • Use AI models to capture and code transactions, draft reports, and check work • Participate in the application process, including prequalifying questions, video introduction, possible role-specific assessment, interviews, and background/reference checks

🎯 Requirements

• BCom in Accounting, National Diploma in Accounting, or equivalent • 0 to 2 years in an accounting practice or finance team, including completed articles or a learnership in progress • Hands-on month-end experience including capture, bank reconciliations, journals, and management reports • Working knowledge of South African VAT, PAYE, SDL, and UIF, and EMP201 and VAT201 returns • Confident with double-entry bookkeeping, journal posting, and bank reconciliation troubleshooting • Strong Excel skills, including lookups, pivot tables, and cleaning CSV files with irregular layouts • Detail-oriented and deadline-driven • Clear, polite written English for client requests and review responses • Genuine interest in AI and breaking accounting work into clear, teachable steps • Comfortable working with AI models and checking and challenging their output • Experience with Eureka, Sage, Xero, or similar accounting systems (nice to have) • Experience with Sage Pastel Payroll, Sage VIP, or SimplePay (nice to have) • SARS eFiling experience (nice to have) • Registered as a trainee with SAIPA or SAICA, or working towards it (nice to have) • Exposure to small-business clients with stock (nice to have) • Updated resume required for application • Short Loom video of 1 to 2 minutes required; only candidates submitting one proceed to the next step
