📋 Description

• Complete Performance Reviews and 1:1s for your reports. • Collect feedback and translate it into constructive input for your reports. • Manage, coach and mentor your reports, supporting their development and career progression. • Represent your engineering team in meta-level discussions such as team structure, wellbeing, and professional development. • Lead a cross-functional squad, setting clear goals and creating a culture of accountability. • Facilitate ceremonies such as retrospectives and squad check-ins. • Collaborate with other engineering managers and discipline leads to ensure consistency in practices and alignment of the squads. • Take an active role in identifying gaps in engineering knowledge and steering training as required. • Keep up to date with current engineering best practices in WordPress, while keeping an eye on emerging trends and shifts in new technologies that can be used in developers' day to day. • Balance technical oversight, people management, and strategic team leadership. • Support the wellbeing and ongoing professional development of engineers. • Serve as a primary point of contact for team difficulties. • Collaborate with delivery and commercial teams to ensure smooth squad operations. • Identify and address problems or escalate them to relevant discipline leads. • Actively contribute to delivering client projects and ensure engineers work effectively at scale.

🎯 Requirements

• Experience and broad understanding of technologies used by Human Made, e.g. WordPress, React, APIs, software architecture etc. • Proven experience of leading a team of engineers, ideally in an agency environment. • Excellent communication, team building and organisational skills. • Experienced and capable of identifying an individual’s areas for improvement. • Skilled at assessing feedback, and turning it into clear, actionable development plans for individuals. • Confident in addressing interpersonal issues. • Experienced in a remote working environment. • A growth mindset with a passion for helping engineers succeed in their careers. • Fluent in written and spoken English, at CEFR C1 level or equivalent.
